About UW Designs Ltd

We are a small, versatile and competitive Industrial Design consultancy based in North Wales. Our focused design team has a wide range of expertise – from sketching, model making, prototyping, CAD, rendering, to Design for manufacture (see our design menu). As well as these in-house skills, we also have a network of various facilities and specific skills within the area.

We develop innovations and products through all stages of design – from concept generation, through prototyping and into production. We can also work on individual stages of development, working closely with clients on specific areas of interest, for example, functional exploration, test rig design and build, concept generation, and model making.

At an early stage in design, we are able to communicate concepts and ideas to a level which can be passed on to Patent lawyers to protect your product. We have previously done this for our clients with several successful applications already filed.

Being based on the edge of Snowdonia National Park, we have a unique working environment, and a real passion for producing the best possible solutions for our clients.

Expertise

Our expertise covers the whole design process – through concept generation, hands on model making, problem solving, computer aided design, high quality prototyping, research and testing.

Our network of technical specialists such as: Electronic Engineers, Graphic Designers, Design Process Specialists, Textile Pattern Makers etc. allows us to develop a diverse range of products.

Equipment

Our studio is a flexible working space equipped with a wide range of prototyping tools and facilities, including top of the range 3D Modelling Software.

We use the latest technologies including: 3D printing, Laser Cutting, CNC Milling, Vacuum Forming etc. to produce effective and accurate prototypes.

Specialist Prototyping Equipment

We have been awarded with a Smart Cymru innovation Voucher to help fund some Specialist Prototyping equipment. This new equipment includes a high precision 5 axis CNC machine which is primarily for medical device components and a 3 axis larger CNC machine for larger scale prototyping. The ability to be able to do this prototyping work in house in a matter of hours which would have previously taken at least 1 month lead time has hugely improved the productivity of our work and has allowed us to produce prototypes to a much higher accuracy in house than was previously possible. Projects which have already benefited from this new equipment include components for an innovative new electrosurgical device as well as components for a new high speed internet technology.
